The Romania – Kenya Chamber of Commerce officially launches in Bucharest on 27 May 2026

By May 21, 2026No Comments

The first bilateral Romanian–Kenyan institution dedicated exclusively to economic cooperation officially opens a business dialogue between Central and Eastern Europe and East Africa.

Why it matters

Diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Kenya have been active for over five decades, yet bilateral economic cooperation has remained, until now, below the real potential of the two markets. Kenya is the main commercial gateway to East Africa, host to the regional headquarters of numerous multinational companies, and a regional growth pole for technology, energy, infrastructure, agribusiness and tourism.

Romania, in turn, holds industrial, agricultural, IT and services capabilities that match the needs of the East African market. The Romania–Kenya Chamber of Commerce (ROKECC) is the institutional instrument designed to close that distance — to turn a recognised but underused mutual interest into concrete business relationships.

What happens on 27 May

ROKECC marks its official launch with an event bringing together representatives of the business community, of the diplomatic corps and of Romania’s chamber institutions. The ceremony inaugurates an institution designed as a permanent platform of associative commercial diplomacy between the two countries.

Date: 27 May 2026, 16:00 – 21:00 (EEST)

Venue: Hotel Caro, Atelier Hall, 164A Barbu Văcărescu Blvd., Bucharest

RSVP: contact@roke.cc

Event supported by: 112 Hub (www.112hub.com)

ROKECC’s mission

The Romania–Kenya Chamber of Commerce is an autonomous, non-governmental and non-partisan organisation, dedicated to promoting and strengthening economic cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Kenya. ROKECC aims to become the primary institutional vehicle for Romanian–Kenyan economic partnerships, offering its members access to strategic networks, specialised assistance and an active platform of associative commercial diplomacy between Central and Eastern Europe and East Africa.

The pillars of our activity include:

•  networking and matchmaking for strategic partnerships;

•  visibility and institutional promotion for members;

•  legal, fiscal and strategic assistance for business development;

•  events, trade missions and leadership programmes.

“The starting point of a new economic agenda”

„The launch of the Romania–Kenya Chamber of Commerce is not merely a ceremonial event, but the starting point for a new economic agenda for Romania. Kenya is the economic powerhouse of East Africa and one of the most dynamic emerging markets globally. Our mission is to turn mutual interest into concrete contracts, partnerships and investments.”

— Florin C. Pîrlea, President of the Romania–Kenya Chamber of Commerce (ROKECC)
